Mike's an accomplished major-market programmer, media strategist, talent coach and market research pro with 30 years of success in these roles, with a particular expertise in Country, AC and Sports Talk.

As a programmer, Mike propelled legendary Country powerhouse KSON/San Diego to its highest ratings ever, while also leading Classic Hits K-BEST 95 and Smooth Jazz KIFM. 

Shepard then became VP/Programming for BCA Radio, driving the vaunted Mighty 1090 (Sports Talk) to its highest ratings in history

Throughout his career, Mike has excelled in identifying great talent and developing their skills to market-leading success.  

He's managed and coached legendary talent such as Jack Diamond, Tony and Kris, Scott Kaplan, Bert Weiss (The Bert Show), Lisa Dent, Rich “Brother” Robbin, Jack Murphy, Lee “Hacksaw” Hamilton and many more.

The Research Guru

As a market research specialist and media strategist, Mike has worked as Senior VP with Moyes Research Associates, P-1 Research, Pinnacle Media Strategies, and continues to operate his own Shepard Media Research.

He has conducted hundreds of perceptual projects and guided media strategy for medium to major market station in virtually every format imaginable and most continents.

Shepard resides in El Cajon, California with his wife and four rescue pups.
